SSD’s attached via expansion are much slower than attached to their own SAS lane

I looked at this after noticing that adding cachecade to some arrays significantly hindered their performance. Using an LSI 9271-8i-CV-CC, A twelve disk RAID60 set with two spans of six disks each (2TB 7200RPM Hitachi sata3 6.0gbps) would reliably yield about 1000 mb/sec reads, and 700 mb/sec writes.
